Underdogs show teamspirit to win Colts Final

MIDLAND-Guildford Cricket Club enjoyed athrilling win in the WACA colts final overrivals Bayswater-Mor1ey.

They were the underdogs from game one, butmanaged to overcome the odds to beat fourstrong sides in the elimination competition.

A solid team effort in the first and secondrounds saw Mid1and-Guildford beat Joondalupand Perth, followed by a nail-biting win overGosnells, thanks to a well-weighted inningsfrom talented 1.5-year-old Jake Coniglio, andthey were into the grand final.

Winning the toss on anuncharacteristicallysoft Breckler Park pitch gave Midland-Guildford the upper hand, and the momentum fromprevious games continued.

Midland bowled brilliantly to have Bayswater-Morley all out for 141, with Daniel Susanataking 4-21 from 8.2 overs.

Midland looked in trouble, losing wicketsquickly, but a standout performance from StanHarrison with 58 not out ensured Midland creptover the line with three balls to spare.

Daniel Susana was the outstanding playerof the competition, topping the bowling chartswith 13 wickets at an average of 6.1, with AshleyMucciarone a close second with 16 wickets at anaverage of 9.7.

Captain Tom Casey thanked Midland-Guildford supporters for coming down to watch andcongratulated everyone who contributed.
